Geophysics
We use electrical
resistivity methods for imaging underground structures.
The technique allows to identify contrasts of resistivity and/or
anomalies from electrical current injection from the surface.
Some applications of electrical resistivity and related techniques
(induced polarization and spontaneous potentials) are :
- Detection of alien materials : concrete blocks, iron reinforcements
(geotechnical applications, foundations, etc…) ;
- Detection of groundwater and its depth, position of saline
intrusions in coastal environment (hydrogeology, ressource management…)
;
- Detection of underground contaminations from leackages of
hydrocarbons, fertilizers, dump materials, etc…;
- Detection of cavities in karstical limestone environment ;
- Detection of metal deposits among alteration profils, detection of
dykes (mining) ;
- Detection of imminent land slope by water accumulation between bed
rock and sediments,…
